St. Kitts & Nevis
St. Kitts & Nevis
St. Kitts and Nevis uses the Eastern Caribbean Dollar (EC Dollar). The EC Dollar is pegged by treaty to the US Dollar at an exchange rate of 2.7 to 1. In addition to this, the smaller island of the two island nation-Nevis, has recently entered the world stage as a forerunner in crypto currency banking. For more information about this exciting development, see our blog: http://cbipartners.io/st-kittss-crypto-revolution-all-you-need-to-know/ . It is interesting that the island has come this far into the future by being so prominent in the financial technology industry, especially because for hundreds of years, St. Kitts and Nevis was a sugarcane monoculture country. However, due to decreased profitability, the industry was formally discontinued in 2005.
Despite the sugarcane industry of the island being stopped, cultural legacies of the industry endure. One such example of this is the touristic St. Kitts Scenic Railway that rings the island and provides visitors with a 3.5 hour scenic tour covering almost 50km.

- The island of Nevis is one enormous dormant volcano with the central Nevis Peak its highest point at 985m. It gets its name from explorers mistaking the clouds around its peak for snow and naming it les nieves.
